Welcome to Xplore This!, an organization which highlights outdoor adventures in and around your home state. We explore reasonably priced attractions and activities which are close enough to home to be a weekend trip for the average family. We believe the best outdoor adventures are those which help us to:

• Appreciate the natural beauty of our environment
• Appreciate the natural resources and wildlife entrusted to us
• Appreciate our history and our heritage
• Develop our minds through learning and understanding our world
• Develop our bodies through challenging physical activities

Currently, the focus area for Xplore This! is the Carolinas and the surrounding states.

Xplore This! was started by Dennis Shaver and his wife, Patty, who make their home in the heart of the Carolinas. They find there to be the perfect place to enjoy outdoor adventures. “With the mountains to the west, and the coast to the east, there is always somewhere new to explore and new adventures to experience. All of it is within a day’s drive or less.”

The Shaver's outdoor hobbies include fishing, rock collecting, and camping. Favorite activities are white-water rafting, skiing, and hiking. When sightseeing, Dennis favors historical sites and the natural scenery of the Carolinas. "Places where history was made are monuments to those who made it. Visiting those places and learning about their sacrifices is a way to honor their memory." The Carolina’s natural scenery is equally inspiring to him. “There is nothing more majestic than the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain panoramas. They are their best when found at the end of an invigorating hike.”

Dennis’ love for outdoor adventures in the Carolinas has taken his career outdoors. Patty, a certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), has always encouraged others to “Do what you love.” Dennis has followed her advice and makes his career in promoting outdoor adventures to others in and around where they live. He is doing this through freelance writing, photography, and publications. He also has future plans which include organized group camping with themes in Earth Science and Carolina history.
